Things I cannot explain.
I have been painting for years, although I have never quite known what to call the relationship.
I often begin with an image, an impulse, a colour, a mark or simply a feeling that something needs to exist.
Then I follow it.
Sometimes I know what I'm doing. Often I don't.
The work has surprised me, frightened me, explained things to me and occasionally seemed to know something before I did.
I have learned not to interfere too much.
This space is where I keep those encounters.
